A local restaurateur is planning a coffee and wine bar in a vacant building just north of the under-construction Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotel in the Kendall Crossing development, formerly known as Countryside Center, in Yorkville.

Jimmy Ratos, owner and operator of Lakeview Grille in Yorkville, and his wife, Jen, along with his brother Tom Ratos and father Jim Ratos, are developing Grace, a craft coffee and wine bar that will also serve food.

A September opening is planned, Jimmy Ratos said.

Ratos said the establishment will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner “fast casual” style as opposed to Lakeview’s more formal sit-down, full-service atmosphere. The interior will include a fireplace and a private room for larger groups, he said.

“It’s going to be a really cozy feel, a real homey place,” he said.

Grace will also have a drive-thru option, Ratos said.

Ratos noted that Lakeview Grille has been successful in its eight years in business.

“I know that we can do a good job on food so far,” he said.

Ratos said he is working with Intelligentsia coffee and Tiesta Tea Company in hopes to serve their products at Grace.

White brick will be added to the exterior of the 3,500-square-foot building, Ratos said.

The building has previously been home to an interior design business and a swimming pool supply store.
